In a widely shared video on social media, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is seen ruthlessly beating a man, whom he claimed to be his disciple. The footage shows Khan repeatedly hitting and slapping the individual while inquiring about a “bottle.” Moments later, others intervene to rescue the student from Khan’s actions. The incident has sparked considerable controversy and discussions online.

According to Samaa TV, a Pakistani broadcaster, the man was identified as his employee.

With the video gaining widespread attention and causing a commotion on the internet, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan released a clarification. Notably, the clarification featured both the man who had been assaulted by the singer and the man’s father in the frame. This attempt sought to offer a more comprehensive understanding of the incident amid the growing online discussion.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan addressed the controversy by stating, “The video that you are watching is a personal matter between a teacher (ustad) and his disciple (shagird). He is my student, my kid. And this is his father. If a student does good work, I shower my love on him. And when he makes a mistake, he is also punished.” This statement provides Khan’s perspective on the nature of the relationship with his student and the context behind the incident shown in the video.

In response to the video, the man involved in the incident clarified, “The bottle contained ‘holy water,’ and I forgot where I kept it. He is my teacher, my father. Whoever has shared this video wants to insult my teacher.” Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also asserted that he apologized to the man at a later point. These statements provide additional context and perspectives on the incident, shedding light on the nature of the relationship and the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
