“In 2024, Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing giant, is gearing up to inaugurate its first manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India.” According to media sources (Ahmedabad Mirror), the negotiations for the EV manufacturer’s, first manufacturing plant in India has reached its final leg and is likely to conclude soon.
It is anticipated that Tesla would make an announcement regarding the opening of its first production facility in India, At the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in January 2024. The state government and the EV manufacturer’s have not made any formal announcements regarding this up to this point.
Rushikesh Patel, the government spokesman and minister of health of Gujarat, recently indicated believe regarding Elon Musk’s investment in the state.
In his Thursday Cabinet briefing he compared the state of Gujarat’s awareness and alignment with Tesla’s overarching objectives. He further emphasised that negotiations to finalize the agreement to create the manufacturing unit in Gujarat are ongoing between the government and Tesla.

Gujarat has emerged as a top candidate for Tesla’s production facility because of the state’s supportive laws as well as its close proximity to ports, which facilitates the shipment of goods. Tesla’s export prospects from India are enhanced by its strategic location, especially in Sanand, which provides a short distance to the Kandla-Mundra port in Gujarat.
Manufacturers such as Tata Motors,Maruti Suzuki and others already have production facilities in Gujarat. Sanand, Becharaji, and Dholera are being considered as potential locations for Tesla’s manufacturing facility.
