On Day 4, India defeated England by 106 runs to tie the series 1-1 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Jasprit Bumrah took the final wicket. With 3 wickets apiece, R Ashwin and Bumrah were the two best bowlers in the match.
Bumrah and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was about to take his 500th wicket in a Test match, each took three wickets in the last innings. The fast bowler removed Tom Hartley to complete the victory.
Shubman Gill’s incredible 104 on the third day of play, which set a difficult goal for England—who had won the first Test—paved the way for India’s recovery.
Despite losing wickets along the way, Crawley and his teammates were able to keep finding boundaries as England began their chase with an aggressive attitude that was characteristic of their “Bazball” style.

England’s 4th day of play began with opener Zack Crawley and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed taking on Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel. England needed 332 runs to win, but their score of 399 proved to be too much.
India had their first breakthrough of the day when Axar dismissed the lower-order batsman for 23 after he had been thoroughly beaten by Ahmed. But throughout the first session, England maintained their pace, scoring at a rate of about five runs each over. Ollie Pope got off to a fast start in his innings, smashing Axar Patel for a boundary and hitting at a pace above 100 all the way through.

After trying to play a shot off Ashwin and being caught at slip by captain Rohit Sharma, Ollie Pope ultimately went away from the game as well. Within the first three balls of his innings, Joe Root smashed two boundaries off the reverse sweep, mirroring Ashwin’s approach. After trying to come out of his crease to give Ashwin a heavy blow, Root was eventually removed for sixteen.
Early in the second session of the day, two new batsmen were made to enter the crease as India turned the tide of the match with two significant wickets of Jonny Bairstow and well-positioned Zack Crawley, just before lunch.
Following lunch, Ben Stokes, the captain, and Ben Foakes appeared to be settling into their positions at the wicket during the day’s second session when Stokes’ innings was ended by a straight smash from Shreyas Iyer. Foakes and Tom Hartley, meantime, put together an over-50 run combination to give England a glimmer of hope, but once Ben Stokes was removed from the game, the English innings collapsed rapidly.
