Australia’s star batsman, David Warner, has announced that he is retiring from ODI cricket before his farewell test match at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) against Pakistan.
He said he had taken a “great decision” to retire from Test cricket. Warner also added that he would be hanging up his boots in the one-day (ODI) format as well, during a press conference on Monday ahead of his last Test match at the SCG. He said, “I’m also definitely retiring from one-day cricket as well.” I think winning the World Cup in India in 2023 is a huge accomplishment,” I stated after the competition. “So I’ll make that decision today to retire from those formats, which allows me to go and play some franchise cricket around the world,” Warner stated with emotion.
He also added, “I am aware that the Champions Trophy is approaching, and if I’m still playing well enough cricket in two years, I’ll be available if they need someone.”

At the end of his successful career, Warner ranked sixth in Australia’s ODI run total. His impressive average of 45.30 brings his total of 6,932 runs from 161 matches to an end.
In addition, his strike rate is 97.26. His 22 tons (hundreds) in One Day format is only second to Australian player Ricky Ponting, with a total of 29 hundreds. Warner also has a 33 fifty-runs score; his highest ODI score is 179 against Pakistan.
