After Chelsea had taken the lead thanks to a late goal from former player Raheem Sterling, Manchester City managed to draw even with the Blues. Even though City avoided losing, the outcome is not positive because they had to watch their competitors for the title, Liverpool and Arsenal, both have crushing victories earlier in the day. City now trails Liverpool by four points and the Gunners by two.
Highlights of the game: Man City Vs Chelsea
Chelsea held Manchester City to a draw at the Etihad tonight, ending their Premier League winning streak. Seven minutes remaining, Rodri’s deflected late goal saved a point for the champions, who found it difficult to penetrate a well-defended Chelsea squad that was playing deftly on the break.
Throughout the game, both teams squandered several good opportunities, with Erling Haaland, strangely, missing twice from close range.
Chelsea patiently waited for breakaways throughout the match, finally seizing one shortly before halftime when Raheem Sterling received a pass from Nicolas Jackson and curled the ball into the far corner.
Chelsea will play Liverpool in the EFL Cup Final on Sunday, while Manchester City will play their remaining match at home against Brentford on Tuesday.
The match’s MVP is Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea
One of the hardest jobs in the Premier League is to be the lone striker away against Manchester City. Jackson was given the task tonight, and he performed a masterful job of handling it. His deft touch and movement brought teammates into the game, and he posed a serious threat on the break.
Manager of Manchester City Pep Guardiola spoke on Sky Sports:
“The game was excellent. We didn’t do so well in the first half, but we did great in the second. We had our opportunities, and we played better in the second half.

“I can’t give Erling [Haaland] too much advise because I played for 11 years and scored 11 goals. He’ll score the next one. We need to get better because we didn’t play well in the first half.
Mauricio Pochettino, the Chelsea manager, said to Sky Sports:
“That was an excellent performance. Really happy. That, in my opinion, is the attitude we wish to convey. That is what we are aiming for. They are, in my opinion, the greatest team in the world, and we should be proud of them for this achievement. We showed great bravery.
“It was a great first half. We won duels and I believe we played aggressively with the ball moving forward. They probably had the upper hand in the second half and made us defend harder.
“I believe we kept up the effort and had a few opportunities to win the match. I’m overjoyed. It’s a wonderful draw for us, and I believe you have to be brave and fight in every way when you play this kind of squad.
“Manchester City has incredible players and the talent and ability to generate opportunities. It is excellent for us, and we must develop.”
