After raising $50 million in funding from investors such as Matrix Partners, Indian AI startup Krutrim became a unicorn and also it’s the first Indian AI startup to be valued at $1 billion. Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola and a serial entrepreneur as per the press release said the startup, which was established a year ago, has become the quickest unicorn in India.
Unveiling Krutrim: Exploring its Purpose and What it Does
Krutrim, which translates to “artificial” from Sanskrit, is developing a big language model that has been trained not only on English but also on regional Indian languages. The company announced that it will be releasing a voice-activated conversational AI assistant that can speak and comprehend several Indian languages.
Next month, it intends to launch a public beta version of its self-titled chatbot and then begin providing developers and businesses with access to APIs. On its website, Krutrim states that they also intend to create an internal facility capable of producing chips that are optimized for AI computation.

Furthermore, Krutrim intends to create its own chips and silicon. In order to create domestic data centers and, eventually, server, edge, and supercomputers, the corporation is also working on AI infrastructure. Prototype production is expected to begin in the middle of 2024, with a production roadmap to be implemented by the end of 2025.
By March 2024, Ola also intends to integrate Krutrim across all of the firms in its group, utilizing technology to streamline important activities like sales, service, and support.
