In his 100th T20I, David Warner’s stellar batting propelled Australia to a commanding total. They successfully defended it, securing an 11-run victory and a 1-0 series lead against West Indies.

David Warner marked his 100th T20I with a blazing 70 off 36 balls, while spinner Adam Zampa’s 3-26 contributed to Australia’s 11-run victory over West Indies. Warner and Tim David’s late flourish propelled Australia to 213-7 in the first T20I.

West Indies’ chase of their second-highest T20 total fell short at 202-8, despite a strong start from Brandon King (53) and Johnson Charles (42), as Adam Zampa’s pivotal contributions made a significant impact.

Warner, having retired from Test cricket after Australia’s 3-0 victory against Pakistan, expressed satisfaction with the win, emphasizing his desire to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup before concluding his stint in the shortest format.

“Just pleasing to get the win,” Warner said.

“I feel refreshed, a lot of energy, the guys have told me to calm down a bit,” Warner added. “I’ve said I want to play the World Cup and finish there.”
