With a decisive win over Chelsea, Liverpool snapped a five-game winning streak to them at the top of the table. Conor Bradley, a top player from Ireland, was the standout player with his first goal and two assists for the Reds. The Reds added goals through Diogo Jota, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Luis Diaz, and the Blues responded through Christopher Nkunku.
Chelsea suffered a crushing 4-1 loss at Premier League rivals Liverpool on Wednesday, outclassed and overpowered. From start to finish, Jurgen Klopp’s squad dominated at Anfield, outplaying a collection of players who occasionally resembled deer caught in headlights. Only one team was truly in this match from the opening whistle to the conclusion.
Darwin Nunez struck the woodwork an astounding four times during the game, which was a new record and if that had not happened, the score would have been even worse.
Liverpool Vs Chelsea: First Half of the Game
Chelsea, who were ranked 10th in the Premier League going into the match, didn’t play as hard against Liverpool as Championship opponents Norwich City did in their FA Cup match the previous weekend. The starting lineup of Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile, and Ben Chilwell—the biggest offenders—was unable to hold the ball from the beginning and exposed subpar goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic throughout the first half.
Chilwell lost possession of the ball, and Diogo Jota scored Liverpool’s opening goal with little assistance from Silva or Badiashile. Subsequently, Chilwell wrapped himself up with Jota, leaving Raheem Sterling on his own down the left, allowing Conor Bradley to increase the lead. After that, Badiashile conceded a penalty, but Nunez’s carelessness from the spot was all that prevented Liverpool from leading by halftime. Every stage, every aspect, almost every move was controlled by Liverpool. Due to a missed penalty, they led 2-0 at the first half.

Liverpool Vs Chelsea: Second Half of the Game
Chelsea failed to score for 48 minutes, and Liverpool had generated 15 opportunities by the time Enzo Fernandez’s meek long-range effort found Alisson in first-half stoppage time. They were so bad that at halftime, head coach Mauricio Pochettino had to make three substitutions.
And then, in the 65th minute, things got back to normal as Liverpool scored their third goal on a straightforward cross and header because of some remarkably bad defending from Chelsea.
Then, Liverpool temporarily went into attack mode, and Nkunku offered Blues a glimmer of hope with a magnificent finish. However, Van Dijk was able to get away with another foul in the box, this time on Nkunku, and Chelsea once again let themselves get behind to give Liverpool their 3-goal lead back. No such turnaround materialized, though, as Liverpool missed the crossbar once more before Luis Diaz headed in his side’s fourth goal after Badiashile misplaced the Colombian at the back post.
